Origin

Russia, introduced by Dr. Gregory Levin, Garrygala Agricultural research station, Turksmenistan.

Type

Sweet-sour, hard seeded

Description

Very large rounded fruit with medium thick rind. The skin is basic green with light crimson-pink spots and strokes. The large cherry red kernels are very juicy with an excellent sweet tart flavour.

Ripens

From March, dependent on weather conditions.

Uses

*Produces excellent quality juice.

*Useful in areas which experience severe frost.

*This is one of the frost hardiest cultivars in the world.

*Said to tolerate up to -15C of frost before significant damage occurs.

*Gives high yields of standard quality fruit.

*Very resistant against cracking.

*Has a medium growth rate.

*Has a wide spreading but compact growth habit.

*Very high juice quality.
