Description

Small to medium sized, round to flattend shaped, green skinned figs. The skin is ribbed and turns very slightly yellow when fully ripe. The flesh is light straw-yellow, very sweet and tasty with crunchy seeds. One of the best tasting white varieties with a sweet, delicate flavour.

Ripens from January.

Uses

*Excellent for fresh eating, drying, jams, preserves.

*This specific variety will make some of the best tasting jams.

*Compact growing and has a slow to moderate growth rate making it perfect for small city gardens, pots and containers.

*Excellent for cool coastal areas and also areas with cool summers.

*Shows good tolerance against heavy frost once established.

*Figs spoil quickly and has no shelf life.

*Excellent resistance against splitting and souring during wet weather.

*A good and productive bearer.

*Only light pruning is recommended.

*Leaves are sometimes badly affected by fig mosaic virus.

*Extra regular feeding with pelletized manure is recommended for this variety.

*Known only in South Africa as "Cape White".
